Aracomians Birthday's in May

Please send us your birthday that we may post it.

The woodpecker might have to go!

The Honorable Rev. Doctor Charles L. Foster is the new Mayor of Elizabeth City, North Carolina.         A Fellow Aracomian

New Guest Columnist  For The Logan Banner

Claude E. Williams, Director of The Aracoma High School Historical Society, is a new weekly guest columnist for the Logan Banner newspaper in Logan, West Virginia.

Claude presents and writes on a weekly basis, articles, history, and issues that concern and affect Black Americans----locally and globally.

Claude and his wife (Bettie) latest writings entitled “Our Farewell To Mrs. Rosa L. Parks” is in our opinion a master piece that should be read by all Aracomians.

For those Aracomians who do not receive the Logan Banner, Claude’s column can be viewed weekly on the internet every Thursday:   www.loganbanner.com   when the web page comes up, then click on left side bar under Opinion.

This Ministry offers special congratulations to our school mate Claude Williams, guest columnist of The Logan Banner.

Qualify for Aracoma High School Military Hall of Fame

The Aracoma Military Hall of Fame would honor Aracoma veterans who made a lasting impact or contribution by serving in the United States Armed Forces.

It would be our goal to recognize our veterans who have contributed to the overall achievement, tradition and history of Aracoma High School.

To Qualify for Aracoma Veterans Hall of Fame:

  1. You must have been a student of Aracoma High School.
  2. You must have served in the U.S. Armed Forces either in peace time or during time of war.
  3. You must have been discharged under honorable conditions or been killed while still in service.
  4. General medical discharges w/benefits will be accepted.

We will need help from the veteran or their surviving family and friends.  You may be able to remember an old conversation or have an old letter that would be valuable to us for information.

Any information will be welcomed and a database will be kept to ensure future generations will be able to witness the great contributions our alumni gave to the United States of America.

At the present time, it is suggested that we only gather the following information:

1.      Veteran’s Name

2.      Branch of Service

3.      Years of Services (i.e. 19xx- 19xx)

If you have information on a veteran who has passed away, please send it to us.  Also, please encourage other surviving veterans to participate in our endeavor.

Information should be submitted to:

Aracoma High School Historical Society

P.O. Box 301

Logan, West Virginia 25601
