Loretta Parks, (of Warrensville Hts, Ohio) Class of ‘55 died in September.
James Pendelton, (of Cincinnati, Ohio) also passed in September.
Ministry Financial Status
As of October 10, 2005 Aracomians have given $6,448.75 to the care of Aracoma High School Out Reach Ministry programs.
As instructed by checks and letters you sent, we dispensed $4,000 from these funds to Hurricane Katrina victim, George Hunter and family.
Today (October 20, 2005) your Out Reach Ministry has $2,448.75 in its accounts. The total $6,448.75 minus the $4,000 sent to Katrina victims equals the remaining $2,448.75. ($6,448.75 - $4,000 = $2,448.75).
These remaining funds will be utilized for Out Reach Ministry activities, only if needed.

Aracoma High School Out Reach Ministry Newsletter Volume 1, Issue 2 October 2005 _________________________________________________________________________ Aracomians raise $4,000 for Katrina survivors
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again. In this time of need, Aracomians generously opened their hearts and pocketbooks. In less than 28 days, you raised and dispensed $4,000 to George Hunter (Class of ’56) and his family in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
As you may recall, George and his family lost everything but his life and his faith-in-God during Hurricane Katrina. George and family are now doing much better, plus FEMA has begun with an assistance program to them. See enclosed copy of appreciation note to Aracomians from George and Betty Hunter.
(Special Note: We ended Aracoma’s Katrina Relief Fund Drive in the early weeks of October. Your Out Reach Ministry is not requesting nor accepting any more money earmarked Katrina Relief Fund).
Lesson from Hurricane Experience
It is our vision to build a prayer network among Aracomians. A special network that is also supplemented by disaster plans. Prayers and plans, hopefully that will enable your Out Reach Ministry to respond with speed, flexibility, and effectiveness to whatever nature or man throws at Aracomians.
We will discuss this in more detail in a later newsletter.
Aracoma High School Veterans Recognition
In June of 2005, Congress agreed to a resolution designating the week of November 6 through November 12, 2005 as “National Veterans Awareness Week” to emphasize the need to develop educational programs regarding the contributions of veterans to this country.
A genius of an idea was proposed by Osie Lipscomb, (Class of ’54). He suggested that an Aracoma High School Veterans Recognition task force be set up that would recognize and highlight our Aracoma High School Veterans, with temporary marketing support from this newsletter. The newsletter is in agreement with this arrangement.
However, the task force will need your assistance. It probably would like to know about you, your children, or classmates whom have served or may be currently serving in any branch of the Armed Forces.
Osie has informed us that he is presently putting together a questionnaire that will be sent to you in the near future. The task force may be asking for copies of articles, copies of pictures, information about rank and branches of service, etc. Anyway that you can be helpful to the Aracoma High School Veterans Recognition task force would be appreciated.
More on this in a future newsletter. Stay tuned.
